Introduction

The HKQAA SBI benchmarking research plays an important role in the project in which the analysed results will be used for benchmarking with the sustainability performance data of each subscriber’s building. Performance data of buildings in Hong Kong will be collected and analysed in accordance to the ages and types of buildings. This helps drive long-term improvement in property management thus enhancing the quality and value of buildings.

Research Objective

The research objective is to find out the performance of the sustainability of buildings in Hong Kong for forming the HKQAA SBI measurement benchmarks.

Research Scope

The HKQAA SBI benchmarking research covers buildings of the following  types:

• Domestic Building
• Accommodation Building
• Industrial Building

Research Methodology

The forming of HKQAA SBI measurement benchmarks is conceived of data that are gathered from a questionnaire survey. Over 10,000 buildings, including domestic buildings, offices, commercial building and shopping arcades, were invited to participate in this research on a randomly selected basis. In return, 813 buildings reported the sustainability performance of their buildings. HKQAA formed the SBI measurement benchmarks based on the analysis of the sustainability performance of these buildings.
